Billy Graham Library

    Billy Graham Library

The Billy Graham Library has taken a significant step forward in strengthening its daily operations and guest experience by deploying a Motorola Capacity Plus digital radio system. For a campus that blends hospitality, ministry, and event coordination, the move represents a thoughtful investment in reliability, safety, and seamless communication.

Built on the same property as the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, right off of Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Library is organized around the themes of “The Man,” “The Message,” “The Ministry,” and “The Mission,” with the message being pre-eminent: the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The Library focuses on what God did in the life of a young farm boy who grew up in rural North Carolina, committed his life to Jesus Christ at a local revival, and, through God’s grace manifested in him, became what many consider “America’s pastor” and evangelist to the world.

A Modern Solution for a Dynamic Campus

The Library’s grounds host thousands of visitors each year, along with special events, volunteer activities, and behind-the-scenes logistics that require teams to stay connected across multiple buildings and outdoor areas. The previous communication tools—mostly analog radios and ad-hoc methods—struggled to keep pace with the growing operational demands.

Motorola’s Capacity Plus system changes that landscape entirely. Built on the MOTOTRBO digital platform, it provides:

    • Clear, interference-free audio even in challenging indoor environments
    • Expanded channel capacity without requiring additional FCC frequencies
    • Private, secure communication between departments
    • Scalable infrastructure that can grow as the Library’s needs evolve
    • Reliable coverage across the entire campus, including parking areas, event spaces, and administrative buildings

    Supporting Mission-Driven Work

From guest services and security to maintenance and event coordination, each team now has dedicated talkgroups tailored to their responsibilities. This ensures that critical communication isn’t lost in the noise of a shared channel and that staff can respond quickly to guest needs or operational issues.

Security personnel, in particular, benefit from the enhanced clarity and reliability of digital communication—an essential component for an organization that welcomes large crowds and high-profile visitors.
